Thanks to everyone who entered! oh and my favourite wine as of late is Mission Hill's 2010 Syrah.
Have fun!
If you've been following my blog or twitter account you'll know that I had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Okanagan area this past summer. It was my first opportunity to bask in the beautiful weather, enjoy the scenery, and of course to sample a variety of wines from Kelowna down towards Naramata. The wineries are amazing over there and the opportunity to sample so many wines is such a great experience.
As the Okanagan area is a relatively lengthy drive from Edmonton (approx. 10 hours), the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival is a great opportunity to sample a variety of wines, beers, scotch all of which are paired with food! There will be local Edmonton restaurants providing tastings of their food, wine and beer providers.
The event takes place on Friday November 2 (4-10pm) and Saturday November 3 (3-10pm) at the Shaw Conference Centre (Hall A-C). Please check their website for further details and ticket information.
I'm excited to announce that I have two pairs of tickets for the Friday November 2 session to giveaway! This is only for entry into the event If you would like to sample wine, food or other beverages, you will need to purchase sampling coupons (50 cents each).

We usually pick up a Dirty Laundry red! Love ALL of the red varieties.
ReplyDeleteIs this one more of a dry red or on the fruity side?
DeleteThe hubby likes the drier ones, while I am partial to the fruity! Their "A Girl in Every Port" is fabulous! We visited the vineyard and loved the atmosphere - the lingerie hanging from the ceiling...
Delete@Honey Pell: yes, each winery has it's unique themes such as Elephant Island Orchard Wines in Naramata!
DeleteAlley Kat Full Moon is my go to beer!
ReplyDelete@Steve: Yes, I do like Alley Kat! Their Aprikat is quite nice too for those hot summer days!
DeleteSanta Margherita Pinot Grigio!
ReplyDeletealways like Pinot Grigios. less dry in comparison to other white wines.
DeleteGo to Beer? Innis & Gunn Rum Finish ....yum.
ReplyDelete@jewpoker: Great choice! I haven't tasted the rum finish in the last one I had, but will have to try it again!
DeleteI love the A.P. Signature Vidal Icewine!
ReplyDeleteIcewines are perfect with desserts!
DeleteMy go to beer is always Pilsner Urquell!
ReplyDelete@KingGord: I haven't tried this one yet, but that can change pretty quickly! What do you like about it?
DeleteHi Everyone, here is the comment section. Comments are moderated so your comments may not show up immediately. All the wines and beers that you all have listed so far sound great! I will post my current favs along with the contest winners (yes, that's right because 2 lucky people can win two pairs of tickets) for entry on Friday!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering the giveaway & I wish everyone good luck!
Favorite go to beer is Big Rock Traditional Ale.
ReplyDeleteI hear that is quite popular! What do you usually have it with?
DeleteCupcake wine!
ReplyDeleteWhat is cupcake wine?!
DeleteMy go to wine is usually a Malbec of some sort and for beer I have been enjoying Kronenburg Blanc 1664 as of late!
ReplyDeletemm..nice choice on the Malbec! I do find that as of late, I'm enjoying wines that are less dry. Still enjoy the full bodied wines, but not too many earthy flavours to it!
DeleteMy neighbor gave me a bottle of Sokol Blosser as a gift for taking his mail in while he was away. I love it.
ReplyDeleteGifts are always appreciated; even better when they taste good :)
DeleteMy go to is Vampire. Bought one of their reds the first time for the novelty of it and was pretty amazed at how great it went with everything.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see a vampire wine! Will certainly try it. What did you like about their reds? full bodied, fruity, earthy?
DeleteI love the Granville Island, pretty much any flavor!
ReplyDeleteI have recently been enjoying Sur de los Andes Malbec - a perfect fall red, before it's time to bring on the mulled wine! As for beer, we've been stocking the fridge with Maisels Weisse lately :)
ReplyDeletemy go to wine is j.lohr valdigue, amazing red that i found at the wine festival 5 years ago!!!
ReplyDeleteI love St. Hubertus Chasselas. If you can find it. Right now I am loving Stoneleigh Reisling
ReplyDeleteOur go-to red is Cono Sur's cab sauv (from Chile).
ReplyDeleteBeers always rotate, but you can't go wrong with anything from Mikeller or Dieu du Ciel!
I don't have a favourite beer - whatever is on special for the day because it's cheaper than usual ;). If I have to choose, I like Sol.
